Breast light is a new health and well being product for women. It’s actually a unique invention for detection of breast cancer. Being Part of breast light cancer awareness campaign this self-examination device helps in finding the abnormalities in breast and a woman can examine any unusual change in their breasts with frequent sessions that can easily be done at home.

Breast light shines a harmless red light through the breast tissue so that you can see some of the particulars inside. Through these sessions you can have a clear view and further can make out whether it is giving normal signs or some alarming ciphers. In such a way you feel more confident that you are having a caring disposition for your body as well as a sigh of relief and obviously it dispels many apprehensions.

What to see during self-examination with breast light?
Here it’s important to mention some important points for consideration. You will see veins and other blood vessels as dark lines in your breast. This is actually a normal procedure and not the abnormal aspect.

With the passage of time and over a number of months you will learn how your breasts look like while using breast light screening device. You will get acquainted and surely would be able to notice any change if occurred.

Who can use breastlight?
Breastlight can be used by women of all ages, particularly menopausal or post-menopausal women when the density of the breast tissue has changed.
It is also useful for women with fibrous breasts that always feel lumpy. The breastlight will distinguish between normal breast tissue and areas where blood vessels are present that could indicate a potential abnormality.

Using breastlight if you have had treatment for breast cancer
If you had treatment for breast cancer or if you had a lumpectomy, you will be able to see the rest of your breast normally with breastlight but there may be a thickening area over your scar tissue. This may mean an increased supply of blood capillaries to the scar area which could look darker with breastlight. If you had a partial removal of your breast, you can still use breastlight on the remaining tissue. If you had your breast removed and reconstructed, you will not be able to use breastlight as it only works on breast tissue. A total mastectomy will remove all the breast tissue; reconstruction uses implants and skin graft tissue.

There are four symnbols on the display:

1. The brightness setting indicator shows you the level of brightness that you have selected. There are four settings to choose from.
2. The battery charge symbol will show you how much battery life is left and will flash when the battery needs charging.
3. The temperature indicator will only come on if the product has overheated. In this unlikely event the unit will cut out symbol will flash until Breastlight has cooled down sufficiently and it is ready again for use.
4. The days since last used indicator shows how long ago you last used your Breastlight. You may find this useful as a reminder.

Batteries and power
Breastlight is powered by a set of rechargeable batteries. Before the first use they will need to be charged for 4 hours. After that recharging is faster. If you are using the device with main power please ensure the cables and power supply cannot get wet and take care not to trip over the cable.

The Light
The skin sensor needs time to reset itself when you switch the breastlight on, so wait for a couple of seconds before placing it against your skin. Breastlight emits light in a visible wavelength. This is completely safe and will not cause any damage to your skin or breast tissue. We advise you not to look directly into the light when it is at any of its bright settings. This will not cause any permanent damage but may cause a temporary dazzling effect.

Cleaning and care
Breastlight may be cleaned using a dry tissue or slightly damp cloth.
Breastlight is not a waterproof device, should not be used in the shower or in the bath

Safety
Use it often as you like with no side effects. Light is completely harmless and has no invisible rays.

Observation under breastlight

When you are looking at your breasts with breastlight you may also see other dark areas. These could look like very dark spots or a shadowy area. It is possible that these are abnormalities in the breast, if you see these you should go to your GP for advice.

How to use?
1. Make the room as dark as possible
2. keep your breastlight pressed tightly against your skin
3. Use a mirror so you can see more
4. Check all areas including under the arms and high on the chest

Warning

Breastlight should not be seen as a substitute for mammogram screening or a replacement for general breast awareness - both looking AND feeling.

It is not intended for use as a diagnostic device. It is not capable of detecting all sizes, positions and types of breast abnormalities.

If you notice any changes, either when using Breastlight or from your usual breast awareness routine, you should visit your doctor as soon as possible. It may well be harmless but your doctor will be able to reassure you.

Avoid using breastlight during and after pregnancy
Do not use breastlight during or after pregnancy. Use breastlight at least 6 months after giving birth, or longer if still breast feeding. This is because of pregnancy and lactation enriches the blood supply to breast tissue and enlarges the breast which may give a false reading.
